AERODYNAMICS

Start with a repeatable riding position

A practical framework for recording and discussing your position.

Cycling and ride preparation

Document your starting point

Take clear side and front photographs with the bike level and the camera in a consistent position. Record the equipment and contact-point settings you are using. This gives future comparisons a useful reference.

Consider the whole ride

A position needs to work with your handling, visibility and comfort. Note when you change hand position, sit up or feel unable to maintain the intended posture. Bring that context to a position review.

Change one thing at a time

Keep a record of each adjustment and its purpose. Test in a suitable setting before using a new position in a group or event. Seek qualified fitting support for persistent discomfort or substantial changes.

Separate impressions from measurements

Feeling faster is useful feedback, but it is not a drag measurement. If you want to compare aerodynamic performance, agree on a repeatable testing process and account for changing conditions. Avoid assigning watt savings to an unmeasured change.
