Athletes come first
We aim to provide a respectful coaching environment that supports physical, mental, emotional and social development. Bullying, harassment, discrimination, sexual misconduct and exploitation are not acceptable.
Parent and guardian involvement
For athletes under 18, a parent or guardian should be involved in arranging services, setting communication expectations and agreeing participation. Keep parent contact details current. Coaching communications should include the designated parent or guardian; report missing copies so we can correct the profile or delivery issue.
Appropriate communication
Use the agreed coaching channels. Keep discussions relevant to coaching and athlete welfare. Do not use a young athlete's account credentials to impersonate them. Parents and additional contacts replying by email should identify themselves clearly.
Training, travel and events
Coaching plans should consider age, recovery, school, wellbeing and ability. Camps, travel, transport, accommodation and event participation require specific arrangements and permissions appropriate to the activity. A website account or this policy does not replace those arrangements or governing-body requirements.
Raising a concern
Contact david@sommerville.cc to raise a welfare or conduct concern. Concerns should be handled sensitively and shared only with those who need to respond, including relevant authorities where required. If a concern involves the person receiving this email, contact the appropriate governing body or local safeguarding authority directly. In immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
Photos and personal information
Permission for photographs and publicity should be agreed separately, especially for young athletes. Ask us to review or remove published personal information or an image if you have a concern. Participation should not depend on agreeing to publicity.
